100 Summits: Bulgers in a Season
is a documentary film that follows 20-year-old Andrew Okerlund as he attempts to climb all of Washington State’s 100 highest mountains during his college summer break.
Ross’ Roles
Ross was Andrew’s main climbing partner, summiting 42 of the peaks side-by-side. He was the cinematographer for much of the project, filming about half the footage. In post-production, Ross led visual aspects, including color correction and grading, animations/vfx, titles, and credit sequences. He directed several interviews, shot additional B-roll, and assisted with general editing and sound mastering. For still imagery and design, Ross captured many photographs of Andrew and designed the posters and graphics used in the film's promotions.
Opening and closing sequences were crafted by Ross using animated parallax photos and text.
Before publishing the film on YouTube, 100 Summits: Bulgers in a Season was shown in theaters in four cities—Seattle, Portland, Camas, and San Luis Obispo—nearly selling out all seats.

Just as post-production for the film was getting underway, and having personally summitted 89 of the Bulger Peaks, Ross encountered a significant challenge: a climbing gym accident left him with a severe bi-malleolar ankle break. After about seven months of recovery and rehabilitation, he resumed his quest, tackling the last eleven climbs. This culminated on September 21st, 2024, when Ross officially became the 94th Bulger List Finisher, a testament to his resilience, coming in just three finishers after Andrew Okerlund, the 91st finisher.
